How to go about selling a large amount of coins

Hi, hoping someone can help me.

My partner and I have recently come across a rather large collection of coins whilst sorting out his dad's house. His dad was not a collector so we do not know where the coins have come from but alas, they are now with us.

I have done a bit of sorting them out, and have since found even more so we are looking at around 300+ coins at the moment, probably over 400.

I have also done a very small amount of research and have a very vague idea on the price of some of them.

I would like to present them to people who would be interested in buying the coins but I am not sure of the best way to go about this. I have taken a lot of pictures of the British coins that I have sorted so far (I was recommended to just group all pennies etc in a pile from someone on a facebook page)

Is there a way that you would recommend displaying for people to see/purchase? I do have them listed on a spreadsheet but I also am not very clear as to how to category them (f, VF, etc...)

If there is anyone that could give me some pointers we would be very grateful.

If they are just normal used coins from circulation (lots of people saved them in the 60s) generally the coppers are fairly worthless. The bulk of any value will be in the pre 1947 silver coins (for the silver content). It usually isn't really worth presenting them in any way, as they are almost certainly just worth the metal value, which could still add up to something worthwhile as the silver coins are worth many times their face value.

Thanks Chris, I am aware from someone else that the scrap value of some of my silver coins is approx £50. I gathered that the coppers would probably be woth next to nothing. I have one shillings, two shillings, sixpences, a couple of florins, and a couple of 3d that have silver content. I have quite a few three pences too.

What about foreign coins??

Depends on which countries and the years. But, I suspect, if they're from this era then there's not going to be too much value as they'll have most likely been picked from change.

List the numbers of each pre 1947 silver coin Carly and I'll see if that £50 is about right.

Are the foreigners silver (coloured) at least? Some countries still had silver content up to the late 60s, but not all that many. Generally foreign coins found in accumulations like this are ordinary coins from foreign trips, as Clive mentioned above.
