Ken Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Hello everyone.I wonder if you could answer a question I have about toning on coins.I recently bought 2 proof sets (the last £.s.d 1970 and the 1st Decimal 1971) and on getting them home found some toning around the edges. Is this normal for proof coins and will it reduce any future value? I'm a beginner so please pardon my ignorance. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Yes, it is quite normal. In the plastic cases, the toning will be a rainbow colour. The value of the coins will not be devalued in most cases. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I find they sell better when they are completely untoned, so make sure you're fussy and specify untoned sets if you can. Quote
