HistoryTreasures Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Cartwheel Twopence of George II (1797). Largest circulation British coin at 56.7 grammes, the famous 'cartwheel' twopence minted at Matthew Boulton's SOHO mint in Birmingham using the new steam-powered printing machinery, this is a lovely example of a historical gem in copper. I think this is a good example, with 'SOHO' clearly legible at lower right on reverse and good detail in general. These were freqeuently dropped so virtually all that circulated have edge knocks (eks), the ones on this piece do not look too significant. I think this example shoud grade F+/Very Fine. Please contact me if any interest in this item.Asking 39 GBP postage free. I can also accept equivalent value in Euros or Dollars.
