Russ777 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Hi here's another one bought in a lot of mixed UK coinageI think this is some kind of religious medallion. The name of the maker is Sparenza and there is something on the net about him but I cannot find this one.I cannot read Latin?? but maybe someone can help the date is 1874 I am posting pics along three posts.Writing side says:AN MDCCCLXXIVX KAL SEXSTILES SOLEMNIA SAECVLI XVIII A MARTYRIO S APOLLINARUS RAVENNAM MISSI A PETRO APOSTOLO PIO IX PONTIFICE MAX VINCENTIO MORETTIO ARCHIEP RAVENWhat do I have here? I guess as it was in a mixed lot and not perfect condition it's not worth much but Sparenza seems to be a maker of fine medalsThanks Russ777 Quote
Russ777 Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Name was Speranza not Sparenza. I do seem a bit dyslexic from time to time! Quote
