Ive been given a number of coins by my late grandfather.

Majority are pennys ranging from 1910 to 1965.

However there was a silver half crown from 1912.

I have checked out e-bay and they seem to get a few quid.

Mine seems to be different on the tails side though. It has the number 3 with the crown above it. Just wondering if that makes it worth more.

I have no experience with coins whatsoever.

A small coin featuring a number 3 with a crown above it is a threepence! Usually worth about 20p for the silver content....being relative tidlers. Halfcrowns are much larger at about 32mm dia and much thicker.
