Guest patriot Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hi, I am new to this forum, but I was wondering if any of you long standing members could help or advise me ? I have a 1950 proof set of coins given to me as a christening present in, obviously 1950, I am trying to find their true worth, the coins have never been touched, but the case they are in is a little worse for wear, I am just wondering if I decide to sell them, would they be worth more as individual coins or as a set, I have been offered £70 unseen from a coin dealer in Southampton, so I expect that they are worth a little more than £70. HistoricCoinage Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 In truly Fleur-de-Coin state, i.e. no wear and absolutely perfect then you'd be looking at about £100 but an average set tends to sell for about £55 on eBay so £70 sounds like a good offer!Any photos of the coins?Regards,Clive. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Yes, £70 is pretty fair, I wouldn't offer much more unless everything was as new with attractive tone matched coins and a perfect box. My dad was born in 1950 too. Actually what an excellent idea for his next birthday! I'll match the £70 and pay your postage! Quote

An undamaged one might just go in your favour. Ceteris paribus, £70 from a dealer wouldn't be a bad exchange.Geoff Quote
