Guest Aidan Work Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 How many of you are aware that Kelantan, which is a Malayan state located near the border with Thailand,is going to be issuing its own gold coins? Here's a couple of articles about them; http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BT/T...46.txt/Article/ & http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...0382&sec=nation .These coins will be of historic interest,as these will be the first issue since Kelantan came under British protection in 1909.I wonder how many Dirhams will make up 1 Kelantanese Dinar.I can guess that 1,000 Dirhams will make up 1 Kelantanese Dinar. The interesting thing is,the coins have been given legal tender status by the state government, but the federal government of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur has declared that the coins will be allowed to be issued, but they will not be legal tender.Eventually,I will get one of these for my collection.Aidan.
