Guest tank_e_lad Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I Have 3 1844 Half Farthings, all with an inverted u for the o in Victoria. Does anyone know how rare or how much they are worth ?Email me tankylad@tiscali.co.uk for a photo of the coin. Quote
guyincog Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 The one I have has a bit missing from the O as well as several other die flaws. Not a U as such but more like a horseshoe. Most of the examples currently on Ebay seem to have the same flaws. So probably not very rare. Spink values for this coin are way off. CC2006 has the correct figures (£4 in EF). Quote
guyincog Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Looked into this a bit more. Michael Gouby lists this as a minor variety (broken O) and prices it slightly higher (few £) than the usual one. So a bit more valuable but not much. Quote
Voynov_BG Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi, I have found this half farthing, with defect at left - from die crack, what do you think - can want some value over catalogue or not for similar defect? Coin is approx. EF (US) or maybe goodVF (UK).Thanks... Quote

Colin G. Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Die cracks are quite common in this series, and generally do not add to the value of a coin, if anything they can actually detract from the value Quote
