Guest Erin Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I have found a coin with an 1835 date with King William IIII on the front . It says on the coin Gulielmus IIII Dei Gratia Dated 1835 and a mans face I assume King WIlliamOn the reverse side it says Britanniar REx Fid Def With the maiden Britannia holding a trident and shield in a sitting position. No indication of a value or date on this particular side. I have seen several pictures of a "groat" With William's photo on the front but on the reverse side Britannia is the same with the words four pence and the date under Britannia. See this link for a groat taht is similar in appearance. http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/groat1836.jpgI can send a photo if someone can help. Thanks Erin Quote

Guest Erin Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Yes that is it!! Mine appears to be copper, and it is a little smaller than the size of a dime. Is it rare? Is it worth much? Thank you for your quick response! Quote
