Guest Nooblar Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Hello all,Just picked this up this follis for $20 the other day.Obv = DIOCLETIANVS PF AVGRev = SACRA MONET AVGG ET CAESS NOSTR.The figure on the reverse is holding scales. Directly under the scales is a cresent - points are up. On the right side of the figure appears to be a capital "alpha". There is also a raised dot or star at the bottom right of the staff. Similar coins are at http://www.coinarchives.com/a/results.php?...rch=sacra+monet ---- close but no cigar. Is my find unrecorded? Quote
M66_pl Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Hi,coinarchives doesn't contain all types of the coins, so your find isn't unrecorded. You can search for it on www.wildwinds.com , but only in RIC are listed most of the coins. Quote
Guest Nooblar Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Thanx for the response. I know a picture is worth a thousand words but I don't have a scanner. I forgot to mention that it was minted in Siscia. I've been to the wildwinds site prior to posting here. The dealer that sold me the coin let me use his Sears book. Still can't seem an exact match. Will eventually get a scan done, uploaded, and post a link. Quote
