smk Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I would like to start a collection of gold coins as an investment. I really like the sovereign and the Britannias. I would like your advice to help me choose the one that would be a good investment. I know US eagles have increased in value as gold has been increasing and its also very liquid and can be sold easily. If gold prices increase I'm sure the Britannia's would go up too but I don't know whether the sovereign values increase parallel to gold prices. Out of the two which ones more easy to sell?Thank you. Chris Perkins Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Sovereigns are certainly more easy to buy, as they can often be had for bullion value (or a little less if you're lucky). Fluctuations in gold prices will affect sovereigns just like any other coin with gold in it.Sovereigns are far more readily available. Quote
smk Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 So I guess the sovereigns are easier to sell too then? Quote
smk Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Can you also recommend me a place that I can buy sovereigns from? Quote
Chris Perkins Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Like with most things these days, there is a ready supply on ebay!Sovs are easier to sell too, because the weights and gold contents are pretty well known. Quote
smk Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 I do buy things from Ebay but is it a good source to buy gold? Quote
Chris Perkins Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 If you know what you're looking for. I've had success buying sovs on ebay. Once I bought a half sov and when it came it was actually a full sov!I won't tell you how and where I look exactly! Quote
