Nice coin, looks like it's had a clean, but being buried in dirt I suppose there wasn't much you could do with it.

I'd give you £600.00 for it if i could verify it's authenticity.

What do you rekon Sylvester?

Hi Chris

Its only been under the hot tap with a bit of soap! Its not been treated or cleaned with anything else. £600 is an ok price by me.

Dear Jay,

I've seen your site. The EF Napoleon coin is no where near an EF! Apart from that, good to see the things you have found.

Where abouts are you, I'd love to come detecting with you and purchase that coin next time i'm in the UK. I could send a cheque deposit to secure.

Hi Chris

I know its not EF, never got round to changing it :P

I live about 5 minutes from Heathrow airport in Feltham.

When you are over you can contact me at jason43@btinternet.com

I am in no rush to sell the coin so would hold it for you if you were interested. Where abouts are you ?

Chris i think £600 is about right, it is in very good condition to say it's been buried!

But the cleaning obviously will knock a fair bit off. I think with £600 it's a good offer.

Oh yes I know where Feltham is. Used to visit a few schools there when I was in IT.

I spend most of my time in Germany, especially over the winter because normally I can't actually leave (snow).

I won't be over until next year, so please do email me (cp@predecimal.com) and we'll arrange something.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sylvester

How can running a gold coin under warm water devalue it ?

Jay

Fellas,

It looks very bright, so i imagine that was a result of the soil type and not the cold water. It looks nice enough to me.

Hi Chris

E-mail me when you are next in the UK, you can come and see the coin and inspect it for yourself. If you would like to come out on dig you are more than welcome....beware though...Can mean hours spent in a cold wet field for nothing but a few buttons.... :D

Last time I was out I found a nice silver Celtic unit though...Its a good hobby, you would find some great stuff in Germany

Only warm water?...sorry i couldn't get onto your site to get the full info because my computer's playing up a bit at the mo, so perhaps i missed the full story.

As long as it's just warm water then i suppose there'd be no damage at all, i though it might have been rubbed with a cloth or something...my mistake.

Since it's just water...I'd sell the coin as "curated" therefore not cleaned!

But it is in very good condition...

I have a detector, but the laws are very strict here and until I'm registered as being here I won't go digging anything up, apart from the Garden.

I found a Deutche Mark and 2 Aluminium GDR Pfennigs!

I'll email you.

Chris
