I have a 1883 1 shilling (Victoria) the reverse side is upside down is this normal?

I also have Ceylon icent 1870 with a palm tree on the reverse

Yes, it's perfectly normal (until the Jubilee head shilling of 1887, when they put the reverse round the other way).

Thanks for your help Chris. By the way the Ceylon coin should been 1 cent

Yes, the ceylon cent will not be worth a great deal unless it's in VF or better condition.
