I was just going to collect silver up to queen victoria for now, but i seem to be getting drawn to george the third, but to be honest, there seems a lot to learn and on receiving this book has confused me a bit more as my last book was from 2011 and it did have prices mostly right through the grades so i felt at least if i looked at most coins from a F point of veiw i would have a good chance of getting a bargain, but i have only been collecting a few weeks so am just starting to appreciate the look of some coins, in a few more weeks i will probably be looking at them in a different light again LOL. I have just found the meaning of the astrix against the f and vf, it means no firm value at the time of going to press, so i am looking of someway book, website etc to value coins f and vf any sugestions would be appreciated. regards john

Hi all, as you can tell i am totaly new to coin collecting, my question is i have just received a new coin book british coins market value 2015 from the publishers of stamp, my question is this in some of the coin lisings you will have the grading f vf ef unc, on some coins it only has a value on ef and un and on f and vf its got a * with no value, does this mean a coin that comes under f or vf have no value? regards john

Hi could any body give me any advice on GB coin auction sites i could have a look on other than ebay, im just finding my way about at the moment, so im unsure of what i am looking at, i have ordered some books to read on the suject and then im going to try and build a collection of silver coins upto the queen victoria, i would be very gratefull for any advice given. regards john

Hi all just wondered, have silver coin prices jumped up in a few years ie from 2011 to 2014, my reason for asking is i was looking at a coin on ebay an 1844 silver crown, which to me looks in fine condition its starting bid is £109, i looked in collectors coins gb 38th edition 2011 its value is £45 FINE AND £ 200 vf, im thinking at that price it must be considered vf maybe. regards sparkey

I was thinking coins upto victoria seem to have more value in most cases, they also do attract me more because of the possible history and the silver i have found and some of the lads have found are in far better shape than the copper and bronze, so for me it feels the way to go. I dont bother detecting in the Mystery i have joined a club, also i dont care much for night hawking it gives good metaldetectorists a bad rep. regards john

I am in wavertree liverpool, its not realy the coins i find metaldetecting that i am basing my coin collecting on, the quality of the coin finds are rarley that good, my thoughts are to get a collection together that may be an investment for my grandchildren etc.

Hi all, i have just started collecting uk coins, i am thinking of just collecting silver up to queen victoria, i do metal detecting and i am very interested in Gb history and finding coins and then finding out about my finds, but sadley many of coin finds are bronze or copper and are badley weathered or have plough damage, so any advice or direction in persuing my hobbie i would be greatfull. regards john
