Actually I heard there are some coins that ARE worth the effort; 50% silver, very common AND no VAT because they are previous tender/collectors coins. I can't remember off the top of my head which ones they are but the problem I ran into was that I wanted to buy tons of them and I couldn't find anywhere to do that. I need to convert some of my cash into silver. Unfortunately the VAT on silver is a bummer! So instead I wondered if I could buy some pre decimal coins. Thing is, I don't want to get caught up in buying rare coins, I want to buy coins worth closest to scrap. For this reason I think perhaps pre 1920 half crowns might be best, being >90% silver so I can melt them down. But where can I buy them in bulk?
