okay, looking at the catalog a little closer, it appears the "H" may be below the word MILLIEMES, along the bottom rim. If you don't see the "H" there, then I would say you London mint issue. No letter 'H' at all.

That would be dated 1917, not 1817. It is from Egypt, as a British Protectorate (1914-1922). This coin was minted in both London and Birmingham (look for a small "H" below the hole), which is the more common of the 2. London mint (without "H") mintage of 6,776,000. in average circulated condition would be worth about £2-3. Heaton mint (with "H") mintage of 37,000,000. in average circulated condition would be worth about £1-2. This is no 'H' below the hole so I would assume it is a London Mint?

Would need to know for sure if it is a copper or silver piece, and how big it is, but probably, if you can see the ZE on the reverse side, then it is a pretty worn out 1 KREUZER. Up until 1850, most of the coins carried the Hapsburg (2-headed eagle) crest in a shield with crown on top. After 1851, the shield was removed, and the 2-headed eagle crest was enlarged, with the crown above it. It is made of copper and the same size as an old british penny but twice as thick. The 2-headed eagle seems to be in a rectangular shield with a small point at the bottom with the crown above the shield?

need more information on these. they could be French coins? both would carry the legend "Republique Francaise." They both have the legend "Republique Francaise." I also have some Napoleon III coins I mentioned in another posting.

I am a coin collecting 'virgin' and have recently been left some coins by my late Grandmother and I'm not necessarily looking to sell these as I have some very fond memories of sitting on my Grandfathers lap looking at the coins. I don't have the experience on grading them but I would appreciate any information on what coins to look out for? I have chosen a few coins to list as these are the better examples of the whole lot. 1. Half Penny dated 1793. It has what seems to be two (2) peacocks entwined around a standard pole with wings at the top and on the other sid a protrait of Sir Isaac Newton with his name going around the outside. 2. Two quite large coins for George III. One is quite worn, dated 1797 and the other looks like it has hardly been used, dated 1807. 3. A Small coin for George III. Very worn but I believe the date is 1775. 4. A small coin which I can not really identify as it is quite worn. One side seems to have the picture of Britannia on it which disects the word Britannia around the outside of it, i.e. 'BRITAN' then 'NIA'. On the other side is a portrait of a man looking towards the L.H.S of the coin with the following words around the outside 'CAROLVS' tehn 'A' then 'CAROLO'?

Small silver looking, about the size of an old shilling, dated 1817, has what looks like arabic writing on it, 5 Milliemes in value and looks as though it has a pressed hole through the middle, i.e. not worn through but made that way. Any help would be much appreciated.

So here are some brief descriptions of the coins. 1. 20 Sen Coin: Looks Chinese or Japense but could be any of the other Asian countries. Silver in colour, good condition and looks the same size as an old shilling. I cannot see a date in numbers but I suppose some of the characters on it could represent a date. 2. 1 Cent Coin: United States dated 1842 with a picture of what looks like a woman on the obverse side. Fairly worn and has a small hole. 3. 10 Centesimi Coin: Italian dated 1863. Has the following words on the obverse side 'VITORIO EMANIELE II RE D ITALIA'. Good condition. 4. 5 Centimes Coin: Dated 1898 and a little bit worn. 5. 10 Centimes Coin: Dated 1872, good condition. 6. Austrian Coin?: This looks a very strange coin as it only seems to have an impression on one side. However, I'm not sure whether I can just make out a 'Z' followed by an 'E' towards the R.H.S on the obverse side. The side that can be read says 'SCHEIDEMUNZE K.K. OESTERREICHISCHE' and has what seems to be a coat of arms with a crown on top of it! Hope some one can help.

Dix Centimes. 1. Top Left: Very well circulated with 50% of the letters can be read quite clearly and need to squint at the other 50%. Dated 185? and has the letter 'K' stamped under the eagle. 2. Top Middle: Best quality of all as all of the letters, etc. are very well defined. Dated 1865 and has what seems to have the letter 'B' stamped stamped twice overlapping under the Eagle. Napoleon III also seems to have a laurel on his head! Note sure if I've spelt that right? 3.Top Right: Very well circulated with 50% of the letters can be read quite clearly and need to squint at the other 50%. Dated 1855 and has the letter 'M' stamped under the eagle. 4. Bottom Left: Seems to be of good quality as all of the letters can be read quite clearly. Dated 1854 and has the letter 'K' stamped under the eagle. 5. Bottom Middle: Seems to be of good quality as all of the letters can be read quite clearly, slight rubbing on Eagles left wing as you look at the coin. Dated 1856 and has the letter 'A' stamped under the eagle. 6.Bottom Right: Well circulated but 80% of the letters can be read quite clearly. Dated 1856 and has the letter 'W' stamped under the eagle. Cinq Centimes. 1. Top Left: Well circulated but 95% of the letters can be read quite clearly. Dated 1855 and has the letter 'D' stamped under the eagle. Does the letter under the Eagle denote which area of France it was minted? 2. Top Right: Best quality of all as all of the letters, etc. are very well defined. Dated 1861 and has the letter 'A' stamped under the Eagle. Napoleon III also seems to have a laurel on his head! Note sure if I've spelt that right? 3.Bottom Left: Very well circulated with 50% of the letters can be read quite clearly and need to squint at the other 50%. Dated 1854 and has the letter 'D' stamped under the eagle. 4. Bottom Right: Second best for quality of all as all of the letters, etc. are quite defined with some rubbing to the left and right hand sides of the front of the coin. Dated 1861 and has the letter 'A' stamped under the Eagle. Napoleon III also seems to have a laurel on his head! Note sure if I've spelt that right?
