Strange coin: Carolus IIII 8 Reales 1817?

Hi guys, thank you for your help. I have consulted a few experienced dealer in China and they believe it is not a Chinese fake. I am trying to attach the back picture but I can't for some reason...
  3. Hi guys, I have recently purchased the below Carolus IV 8 Reales coin without looking at its date. After a closer examination I realised that Carolus IV abdicated in 1808 and the coin says it is minted in 1817?? In my humbled opinion, this coin shows no sign of forgery. Can you guys please let me know if you know anything about it? If I have posted the coin in the wrong section, I apologise in advance.
  4. Thank you so much everyone! I have decided to send the coin to CGS. Let's hope it is going to be good news in the future. One more thing I'd want to say is that I really really appreciate all your help. As a Chinese boy, it really feels very heartwarming to be welcomed by you guys in a coin community that's so far away from home. From now on, I will definitely try to contribute my bit to the forum to make it better. Once again, thank you guys. You guys are awesome!
  5. That sounds very worrying...give me 30 minutes...I will try my best to get you the high resolution pictures....
  6. Thank you very much, ignore the previous reply please...I just saw this reply...
  7. Sorry for bothering you Garrett, but would you please tell me which bit of the coin is different with the genuine one? Is the edge?
  8. Thank you very much! Just saw your reply....
  9. Haha, thank you Sir. We Chinese collectors are in fact the biggest victim. The Chinese coin market has been booming for the past 10, 20 years and the high profit has driven many people to start making fake coins (mostly Chinese coins). Some of the very high end silver coins are actually made by the Taiwanese and Japanese now. The quality of those fakes are absolutely crazy, very very hard to tell.
  10. Definitely! Would you please leave me your email address. (or if there is another way of finding it on the forum)
  11. Thank you very much haha. I am only a student so I really cannot afford the ones with top condition.
  12. It weighs 28 grams exact. Most of the fake coins from China are actually Chinese. In China, we call it getting 'drugged'. There are so many fake Chinese coins around that I even have a tin box for all the fake coins that i got 'drugged'. Well, to be honest, this is the first time that I have bought a British coin and suspecting whether it is a fake. Personally, with all the experiences of dealing with Chinese 'drug dealers', I don't think it is fake, but you guys are the experts. So I thought it might be a good idea seeking help here.
  13. Hello guys. I have just joined the forum and would like to ask a question about my recently bought Gothic crown. I am a coin collector from China studying in the UK. So I would like to apologise for people from my countries making so many fakes. I bought this Gothic crown off a very reliable trader but people from Chinese coin forums are calling it a fake, so I am very confused now and would like to seek help from you experts. Did I manage to buy something made in China or was it made in UK? Thank you very much if you can help me!
