    Error Ten Pence?

Hi there I'm new to this forum and not a collector, I have however come across a coin and wanted some expert advise, it's a 2012 10 pence piece, it's perfectly normal except for the markings on the side/edge, they only run along half of it, the other half is smooth, just wondered if this is fairly common and if the coins worth anything, I probably wwouldn't sell it as I think it's quite cool just thought I'd ask some one who kn-ows what they're talking about thanks!
