  1. Interesting token, what did W Williams of London deal in ?

William Williams’ London (Middlesex) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: The arms of the City of London with legend: “FEAR GOD AND HONOUR THE KING 1795”. Reverse: A portcullis surmounted by the Prince of Wales’ crest with legend: “W. WILLIAMS LONDON”, “RENDER TO CAESAR THE THINGS THAT ARE CAESAR’S”. Plain edge. Issued by William Williams who was originally a grinder and latterly a button manufacturer with a business at 103 St. Martin’s Lane, Charing Cross, London. It is thought he was Welsh by the inclusion of the Prince of Wales’ crest.

I wonder if it's also a subliminal message to the future George IV, Prince of Wales in 1795 and already a 'bad sort'? HONOUR THE KING and RENDER TO CAESAR seems like a pretty clear advice for a wayward Prince.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honour

1765-1795...4o years wonder when the word honvor first appear in token,i think it is british word, not latin or french like honor.

  2. We don't have much luck with cats. There's a farm very close and they seem to have more cats that cows. They often end up befriending us and then we 'adopt' them and they live here. Two of them have even had there babies in the garden, but they never seem to live long. We gave 2 babies away and the one we kept (named Roger, after Syd Barrett) died of FIP before he got to 2. The other week his mother (Noodle) died aged about 5. She lived in the house for a few months but was never that healthy. Some end up dead on the road, too. We pay the vet bills to try to keep them going, but they just keep breeding and dying.

Jvst be carefvll Chris, cats have sometimes have good thing, bvt can cavse astma to others, also pet is good thing

...they know if something is arvond the area in the air or soil, there is an increase of allergy to cows milk this days like what skiis have mentioned in the past...milk will be ban...maybe the immvne system of most people are on the decrease to mvch vse of antibiotic, immvne system is fvlly develope in 2 yrs old i think.

  3. They say that most british coins is very hard to get in high grade in raw...especially in slab...if they are type set collectors, since most british collectors are into raw or type collection...i think.

Since 2 major GC did have the same grade wonder what CGS will grade it,most american collectors do collect american coins thats why there market is different than GB,most GB collectors do it for hobby.not like america i think,,other collectors or investor who have money....it is been disvss in the past that they are cherry picking high price and rare coins maybe.... now they are going to british coins in slab since there is CGS GB company....amalgam of raw to slab market of GB coins and may change the market of GB coins in slab, only GB dealers and collector expert will know...for they are on the eye what is happening on the market, hope it is not artificial spike of prices the last one who bvy it maybe in the loosing side,if it is increasing like most rare coin of america and its slab coins with high prices dont know what GB coin collector comment on it,probally they dont like it.

  4. I believe this was issued in commemoration of the Relief of Mafeking during the Boer War of 1899 to 1903.

No military connection but the sort of civilian medallion sold quite commonly in the early 20th Century.

It probably had a patriotic red, white and blue ribbon.

Similar items were produced for royal weddings, funeral, coronations, etc.

Not limited to medals this sort of commemorative would also include, tins, flags, tie pins, coins, etc.

    Thanks

Its referenced Laidlaw: 0123b but i cant find the book or the ref for it

Thanks for the info circa 19oo maybe events before 19oo.

It is a CM for civilians or commemorate an events, either death, coronation.

Most military medal have bigger size and soldier name in the edge other on the back depending what kind of medal.

It can be anything commemorating an event either the campaign of 3 generals there is a rose and thistle and shamrock which the infantry was designated as its symbol and cross rifle maybe to commemorate the infantry on that time the irish royal gvard and other royal or infantry maybe.

  5. Maybe it is general service medal for infantry.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_awards_and_decorations_of_the_United_Kingdom

A transition pace for medals...it is silver is for officer bronze for enlisted i think, there are some article that medal..bvt most on decoration and insignia was modified when many infantry was vnified from 2nd boer to WWI i think.

    http://books.google.ie/books?id=BsNguHQdG0wC&pg=PA23&dq=BOER+INFANTRY+MEDAL&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ltSWU8CHOsXF7AagtoGgAQ&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=BOER%20INFANTRY%20MEDAL&f=false

Maybe this one is close i think.

cross rifle is for infanry with horse movnted infantry, horn maybe scovt same as binoclar, wreath is for award or crown medal or medalet i think.

the 3 general maybe infantry on what sign they have, british infantry symbol rose thisle shamrock.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarsen#Human_uses

    Maybe like rock Hydrolysis?

like single cell bacteria that secretes flvid like svlfvr....like in great lakes might be remains in last glacier or the lake is pollvted and bactria changing the waste in great lake and end resvlt is svlfvr acid.

    Rock made of..?.

    Skeletal fragment.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limestone

Ca.. bones mostly in living animals,Ca settle to sediments Limestones?heated by magma flow or by heat feldspar?

    Weight?

Some artifact made of dolerite axe and arrow head or on that area or rock from stone henge it self, wonder what is the weight or arrow head made of dolerite as a penny is smallest vnit and one pillar of stonehenge is a Povnd?,22 grains remains standard in arrow head in silver sterling.

Heated more they are making glass and crystal on feldspar the finer the sovnd the finer the glass like what they discover that stonehenge made for acvstic maybe like the theory Om sovnd of cosmos?

Now they are making glass from felspar to make glass or crystal more

  12. Yes, it is about 15 miles east of here. I go past it every time I have the misfortune to go along the A303 to Andover or further.

    Geoff.

Thany you for the reply,i onced thought it was a rain measurememnt basin several pole and small basin near the river in documentary that they are using that expert said washing after the ritual or procession,i think they say they have found an artifact that was related or use by Egyptian, maybe not sure some kind of measurement that Egypt is using came from Britannia and there is also records that medetterinian also pilgrimage in stonehenge good site, just a comment.

  13. I have been lucky, my house is quite high so not likely to flood. We were down at Crewkerne on Sunday, and there was a lot of flooding. On the Somerset levels it is once again under water with villages cut off.

I noticed today that I have two Pelargoniums in a hanging basket still alive. Just shows how mild it has been, we have had a few frosts but not severe. But last winter it turned colder in late January.

Roll on next month I can get to work on my trees.

    geoff.

Is stonehenge is in your county?

Seen documentary i thought stonehenge is for astronomy and weather ended up dust throwing in the river a cycle of life, all goes to dust, just a comment.

  14. From mist to hail,to turbulance to tornado, red rain from desert across the world BBC have a good ducumentary polar vortex they say it is connected to dust, fire or warming i think, from solar flare, solar wind maybe comet ison or accumulation of dust in earth, they already said that it will be a cold winter there are 2 vortex in north located in Canada another one in siberia, with all the heat and cold, cold can reach its absolute temperature while heat is planks heat of the universe they say, what earth can hold or limit?,dust to rock even rock have salt and other minerals do not know the freezing point of salt heavy current brine or boiling point of it,....rock salt or and maybe other stones with sodium?,just a comment.
