  3. no.no........156 2p in a foot Sorry for that post. 156 2p in a foot pre-1860 pure copper coin stack high. 203 pennies in a foot 1860 to 1970 bronze alloy 3 metal copper, tin, zinc stack high.
  4. Thank you very much Ski. 203 For pennies 162 for 2pence in a foot.
  5. Just curious on how many coin and denomination can reach one foot as a measure of length. And how many rotation of circumference of coin can reach one foot And how many stack together can reach a height of 1 foot. Or can use a measure in meter. It will be much higher if use meter it is equivalent to 3.2 foot it means that lots of coin to have to reach a barometer or a living standard. Just curios that the decrease in size is also related in inflation. It is the only reference I can find is British relating to coin on linear measure and troy weight as other reference and metal composition. I will just use it in the future to measure coins in the Philippine or base it first on available resources on how far coin size and coin weight decrease on time elapse since they have a large twopence coin up to now. just posting. http://www.practical...riment_752.html Page 10 on linear, page 11 on thickness. 304.8/1.5 203.2 pennies also 203 halfpennies 304.8/1.25 243.84 farthings. There are thick flan in early coinage in 1860 that a 4D is equivalent to 4D of its weight to reach 1D Or 2 1/4D to reach 1/2D And 2 1/2D to reach 1D. As small denomination will not exceed the next higher or highest denomination on its metal composition like in early Bronze coin with several gram or grams allowance so the higher denomination will be the counter weight and a counter denomination of the lower coin.

  9. Just a comment. Melting coins with precious metal is different melting other precious metal in different form, they can melt jewelries with assay mark others buy them below the selling price as jewelries or melt value same as to coin, well its better to have a money than nothing especially this time. What will happen when other countries back there coinage in precious metal and if other countries follow, they will redeem old gold silver coin,if they will not return its better to sell worn precious metal coin, just a comment

    Celtic Coin Identification

Not into celtic coin, but sometimes I do search in the web for info maybe in the future if budget allows other books, just like to know those are not clear cut concerning celtic coins, they use horse a lot as a symbol?? and they use a lot of circle like other monoliths or monument in ancient times, the y shape in bronze is just like a letter represent a feather, celtic icon and inscription could be anything.
  11. There are books, magazines, wrttings, that features coin as a piece of history on that time but also as a evidence, that a simple coin is not a metal use in transaction but the culture, arts, economics is incoined in a piece of disc accepted or not by its people,to be used in transaction, just a sting of text reddish copper nose good info in history though, just a comment.
  12. I have an idea that launching and running a magazine is unbelievably complicated, risky and moreover extremely hard work. One of my other hobbies is classic cars which I have had some involvement with since 1988. In that time I have seen a number of magazines arrive, fade, close, get taken over and absorbed into larger publications. A particular case in point was one in which all articles were written by owners with very little editorial input (Real Classics I think it was called). Sounded a good idea on paper because using essentially amateur contributors would cut overheads to a minimum. It briefly made the shelves of W H Smith's, but it seems that they failed to renew the order and in a year or so, it was dead. Publishing books is risky enough, but succesfully launching a periodical must be a zillion times more so. I dont subscribe in coin news, but I do buy BBC magazine. Good forum, better if other good topics are archive in print not only electonically, just in case the site or the computer is down at least it is printed, just a comment, and besides there are loads of info that the mint or coinage in UKGB that is connected to other countries for addition print resources or edit and compiled other magazine and review them and relaese as new one or updated.

  15. The earliest I have seen is the reverse of a Philip II tetradrachm, but I'm not sure exactly what his dates are. I'm sure they must go back to Classical Greece at least? Time frame from greek to roman to byzantine to 410AD so on. Nice though two headed eagle landed what is on the top of there head?just a comment. Just posting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-headed_eagle
  16. We will just see when that kind of eagle first appear in coins,in text or in images,in flags etc further studies?. I thought that it is a eastern ........ ...... and an western ..... ..... empire? Any graven images on top of the pole or flag?just a comment.
  17. There is a documentary, the host or presenter is a female journalist shown in tv in the past, they have discuss the topic of eagle from roman time. Some are facing left and right, east and west, some in bearer, coin, flag etc, just a comment.
  18. Just posting. http://www.fool.co.uk/news/investing/2011/02/15/decimalisation-is-40-years-old-today.aspx 373.24 troy pound but base on pennywieght 0.05487 others or in the past 0.05 or 1/20 of pure silver and 0.0645 or 0.065 with 1 or 10 percent excess of wieght little less it will go to 364 grams or days in a year, that the weight of a physical grain will varies in growth for the number of days that the sun will shine or numbers of work for a man or a helper or livestock or animal from a As to a Bull, that the profit or yield or harvest is also equivalent to a bull in one month pay in gold, just like the gold coin of beoudica I think, that other measure is base on grain but depends on its weight depending how fertile the soil and numbers of hours the sun shine, etc, just a comment
  19. Just posting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennyweight Nice ratio from chalkoi to drachma to uncia to decimalization. We still have 24 hours in a day and a lunar cycle of 28 and 29 days and 12 or 13 month in a year, that the ratio in coin is also equivalent in numbers of work in a day equivalent in its PPP to buy goods and grains that the counterweight and mass is of silver coin depending on its purity, that hours work, time elapse and product or grains it yield are all interconnected in a silver coin, just a comment
  20. Just posting. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/consumertips/8318917/Cash-in-on-your-coins.html# UKGB can change its pound or return to silver 15.6 to a pound or more than that?
