The British Coin capsule size chart. (pdf)

Coin Capsules are great for storing special coins in a secure environment. The coins can then be handled and viewed individually without the fear of damaging or marking the actual coin in any way. Available in many different sizes (larger capsules here) there is practically a size for every type of coin and denomination. Of course, all the capsules are made from substances that do not damage any type of metal.

Normal UK retail price is £3.25 per 10 standard sized.

Capsules are available in quantities of 10 or 30. The postage for standard 16.5mm - 23mm is £2.00 per 30 or £1.00 per 10. For standard 24mm - 41mm postage is £3.00 per 30 and £2.00 per 10. When purchasing more items from this website the postage will always get proportionately less as the number of items increases.

All capsules have an outer diameter of 6mm more than the inner diameter. Please see the large tray range for a great way of storing coins in their own capsules.

These mostly uncommon sizes are not available from my usual Capsule supplier (Lighthouse GmbH) like the sizes above. They are in fact from SAFE, and made to the same high standards. They are more expensive than the Lighthouse capsules but are available in a number of slightly different sizes, if one of the above is not quite right.

Sizes available (in mm): 15, 21, 23.5, 29.5, 31, 32.5, 34, 35, 40.

Roman coins, informative and protected. A great idea for using capsules to display coins in an informative and protected way.

I cut rectangles of card board and made circular holes in them, put one side of the capsule through the hole, placed the coin inside and closed the capsule. The coins are protected, both sides can be seen and they close tight enough to sandwich the card board securely.

I then wrote some informative text and stuck it to the cardboard. It's a great way to get children interested in history without letting them get their mucky hands on your coins!
