Hey Stu!

3 focus areas still for me:

  • Milled silver types, preferably early milled
  • Charles I halfcrowns, different Spink numbers
  • 18th C Conder tokens

BTW, your camera gave up the ghost in the end after many many pics, bought another of the same second hand

Oh, no, sorry to hear that! I’m just thinking about buying another one again, it depresses me to be taking rubbish coin pictures on my iPhone.
What was the lens, I forget now? Cost more than the camera did IIRC?

I've still got and use the lens, I just bought a body ... it's a Canon Ultrasonic (what can that mean?) Macro EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM

It has a piezo electric motor. The USM stands for UltraSonic Motor. Very fast with a quick settling time.

Can anyone think of another date where a denomination was struck with two different monarchs on, like 1820 halfcrowns?

1649 shilling, 1714 guinea, 1727 shilling & 1937 take your pick if you accept that the Ed. VIII denominations were adopted, but overtaken by events.

If you include patterns then the number of dates increases, eg, 1830 & 1837 sovereigns

My latest coin 1913 half crown. While not perfect nevertheless a pretty reasonable coin for this date

If only the obverse on this crown had as much eye appeal as the reverse ...

It is a coin and you can spend it though it would be silly to - really its a bullion coin though to me these coins are lovely pieces of art as well with their designs taking over from the old crown coin in about the year 2000 imo

I should have been more specific - I meant currency issues only.

I have started to work through the pile in the corner to get some pictures done.

This is virtually black in hand, Rob checked it over for me and indicated it was likely lightly cleaned in the past. A unfortunate error on my part but it still is pleasing in hand.

This was courtesy of Paulus, the bag marks are no where near as visible in hand. I am more than happy with it.

This completed my Jubilee head date run, although 1 or 2 of the dates could do with an upgrade in the future.
