Coin aquisition of the week.......

Some recent additions to the collection two sixpences 1894 and 1896 probably not the best examples. I am finding it quite difficult to find better have been looking for several months. Are these dates that difficult to find?? in top condition.

This is very impressive. It's rare to find a coin so free from contact marks. Excellent toning too.

Not sure if I paid too much for the 1892 3d bought on eBay for £35 just could not let it go. 😮 😁  At least I won't have to buy another one now.

I have brought a couple of items not in my area. Firstly, this Edward VI medal. Dated 1930 and was awarded to students winning a scholarship in one of the King Edward's Schools in Birmingham. 38.5mm and so it's crown size. The quality of engraving is really superb I think. Paid a bit more than I would like but it's worth it.

Secondly is this 1853 halfpenny. The date looks interesting. Each digit of the date is double struck. It looks like the 5 is over another 5 of a different font.

New addition just arrived an 1884 Sixpence. This has a very dark tone, I have graded this as GEF/AUNC what are your thoughts please.

My own thoughts are that it's EF

I feel maybe the reverse is a little better, but the design may be tricking me.

 

There is some wear on the obverse, so 'AUNC' makes no sense to me, and never does.

If there is wear, surely it hasn't been circulated, and if there isn't, it hasn't???

Surely it's just binary?
