Ebay's Worst Offerings

Looks it eBay might have done something as the page is now "missing" rather than listing ended by seller.

I think it might be a new eBay thing? I had a coin in my eBay watch list and knew the seller’s business details (he would pay fees on eBay). I eventually decided I wanted it and offered a lesser amount for an off-eBay deal.

He ended the item on eBay, which then sat in my ‘ended items’ for a while before disappearing without trace, like it was never listed on eBay…I’ve never seen that before?

I sent them a message reporting it, hopefully others did to ,and ebay emailed me last night saying it had been pulled and action was been taking against the seller.

I wish eBay did this more often, it seems >50% of the Anglo-Saxon 'coins' on eBay these days are fake, and reports go unheeded. Just look at this chancer's listings...!

15 years or so ago eBay used to have the 'Trusted Members Program' where reports from those members were classified differently and action often taken. Guess things change.

That link takes me to a list on Ebay, which just has two Anglo Saxon coins?

That works now, thanks.

Coin is clearly London, not Newcastle and to be fair NGC have not put a mint on it as far as I can see.

I have tried to message the seller, but the Ebay messaging system does not let me enter any text except if I want to make an offer! Maybe someone else can try?

Who on earth gets these things encapsulated? I was looking over 10 or more NGC Edward I pennies the other day, not one of them was worth more than £15 in the raw state. 🤷‍♂️

I gave up reporting clear fakes several years ago. Total waste of my time. They ignored every single one.

I did see on an auction site last week a 1694 Halfpenny with the description William & Harry ... when Harry met Mary

Very Best Regards
