Cobs and Milled Reales

Recommended Posts

I've grown increasingly more interested in coins of the Colonial era of the New World, as well as extensions of that.  Coins minted in the US from the Colonial period, (and EAC, Early American Copper), and really in general, for anything historical, are just too absurdly priced, but plenty of other coins were minted, notably by Spain, and its colonies. So far I only have bought a single 8 Realest from Mexico, a much later Caps and Rays type.

I've got one book in hand I've been reading, The Practical Book if Cobs, by Sedwick and Sedwick, and in the mail is a copy of Pillars  and Portraits.

Has anyone here gone down this research path or collected New World silver or gold, whether cobs or milled? (I won't be pursuing any gold Escudos, but  would be curious to see pieces anyone might share).
