DNW changing names.....?

According to an article in April's Coin News, DNW will henceforth - from April - be known as "Noonans". 

Although it's now 28th April and I've seen no evidence of it yet.

Their name will change at the end of this month and so it will be very soon now. Can't say I think there is any need to. Many of us refer to them as DNW rather than Dix Noonan Webb in any case.

Can't see the point personally, as we've all got used to the conveniently abbreviated "DNW". Not many would actually say "I bought my coin at the recent Dix, Noonan & Webb auction".

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

DNW is simple n we all get use to say DNW here n there...but if they are originally partnership n others 2 are left, then name change is becoming a must for them.

Well indeed, as the vast majority of enquirers will have no idea about the change, and still be searching for DNW.

They'll also have to alter their logo, which is a pity as the one they have now is neat and effective.

I suspect they might refrain from changing their logo (for the short and medium terms at least). The same logo confirms that that it is still the same business and it is important to reassure clients of that. Guess we will find out in a few days time!

None of the three are leaving:

"In relation to the shortening of the company name from Dix Noonan Webb to Noonans, Nimrod Dix commented: “There really wasn’t much to debate when it came to which one of our surnames to run with. Pierce had the more suitable one of the three of us and was also by far the youngest, so that was an easy decision to make.”

With regards to the future, Nimrod went on to say, “It did cross our minds when we decided to shorten our company name that some people might see it as a sign that Chris Webb and I were taking early retirement, so now is probably a good time to say that this is definitely not the case. Its probably more likely to be changes behind the scenes and shares (ownership) that have made changes for the start of a new tax year.

Not uncommon for businesses to change directors , name etc. in March / april.

There are so many huge companies with multiple names. E.g. PricewaterhouseCoopers is known as pwc; Marks & Spencers is also known as M&S. No one have issues with their names. It's just creating some hassle for no real reason.

They must have spent a fortune on this new look - it's surprising what an increase in buyer's commission can do.

Their new website is a disaster. It runs like a dog, has no option to increase the number of items per page and has no option to select a sub-set of lots (e.g. pennies) from an auction preview listing. They're not doing themselves any favours.

The DNW site was one of the best coin websites - very quick and easy to use. Excellent archive options.

The new site is (currently) several steps backwards.

Just tried the archive function - clicking on a previous catalogue brings up............nothing. Don't they test these things before going live ?????

Agreed. They were changing the name. They didn't actually need to alter the site functionality at all.

The special collections aren't working. Just tried clicking on the Laurie Bamford sale - as you say, nothing. 

They should check every last function before going live, using a staff member working at home from their own personal device(s) if possible. But clearly haven't.

Yes, this is the one that's at the top of their home page. Not nearly as effective as the old one IMO.
