Andrew Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hello, A recent metal detector find turned up this 1766 George III Irish half penny. I am however confused as the coin itself is almost identical to the original, with the only difference being the hair on the George bust. At first I thought this was an evasion, but from my understanding they did not use the word REX on the bust side of the coin, so could this be a contemporary forgery of an unknown die? I have attached several pictures. Andrew Quote
