Ah, you were referring to the box colour for the entire set?

Ok, but AFAIK, the individual boxed crowns only come in green or burgundy. If you've got a picture of a blue one, I'd be more than happy to see it. :)

I have came across a couple of blue crown boxes too ,but never in hand ,always through pictures .My only concern with them is that the light blue colour may be from green boxes that have faded in sunlight (there seems to be a few different shades of green out there).pics never show the inside of the box ,where the original colour would be intact . also found this one where the colour has faded away to white  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FESTIVAL-OF-BRITAIN-PROOF-CROWN-COIN-1951-WITH-ORIGINAL-BOX-AND-COA-ANOTHER/382279211150?hash=item59019dd88e:g:90MAAOSweW5VdJTS

Well done for asking, if you feel the need to torment them some more, why not also enquire about the 1951 + box colours - does Blue actually exist, and the 1965 Churchill satin finish :)

Should give someone in the RM at least a minor migraine!

heres a blue proof set box http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1951-Festival-of-Britain-Boxed-Official-ex-Proof-Farthing-to-Crown-10-Coin-Set/292344018858?hash=item44110fb7aa:g:PZMAAOSwCkZZQQvz

Is the proof box set issue not George and the Dragon as well? or do you mean on the sleeve cover on top of the box? Must be the green one that has a lid? my burgundy ones are all slide outs

I have both types of both colours .slide out seems to be the most common type of both colours , but the 2 blue ones I have seen were both lids.

The blue were struck at the festival itself. so we can get them out of the way. the other two colours if there were three would mean they were struck at the mint itself for non festival visitors . perhaps the guy meant purple/burgundy. I haven't seen any blue ones?

I have seen 2 blue ones ,but have never managed to get my hands on one .nearly bought one a good few years ago ,but held off because the box was a bit of a state (regret it now ,cos it was only a couple of quid) .the green and burgundy boxes have 2 types ,one has a lid type box and also a slide on cover  type. There is also 2 different coa's .I am sure I have seen a proof set in a blue box too (might have imagined it though )

I believe its a Henry VI half groat. Canterbury or Edward IV half groat.

    But get a second opinion.

cant seem to find any henry vi canterbury mint halfgroats or groats , but it looks like a henry vi crown .

Heres a lot i thought about until it crashed through the £700 barrier . Maybe it was still a good buy but its goobye from me!! ?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-Victoria-Shillings-1850-1889-1890-1893-beautiful-condition/332399137923?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

If real ,then it is a good buy .I bidded up to £70 (didnt think for a minute I would have a chance ) , but without being 100% on the 1850 ,I was only bidding on the other 3. It was the die crack on the reverse that concerned me .For such a scarce coin ,I would have expected to find other examples with the same flaw .I did think it would go for about the £1000 mark though.

Love the work you guys are doing here, been quietly reporting most of the items along with you ^_^

I believe this is a very good fake, from the offset it looks alright but I have seen the seller sell the same exact coin 4 times now.

anyone able to confirm or deny my suspicions?

    LINK

On first inspection it does look ok (I'm no expert though). It me be that he is bidding it up till he gets a high enough price ,and hasn't reached it yet .
