  1. Tidy example Mike, I'd be pleased with that.

    2021 coin found

I've just got two minty fresh 2016 2ps from the post office. Are we behind the times here?

    Gloves.

They need to learn a bit about which words require a capital letter. This sort of writing does my head in.

    More Pennies

Which IOM coinage please John? The only fit I can see is the 1860 copper halfpenny and the 1839 IOM halfpenny and I'm struggling to get my head round that.

    An unlucky metal detectorist.......

I only know that there's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raising of the wrist...

    An unlucky metal detectorist.......

Surely that's a reflection on his parents' choices?

    An unlucky metal detectorist.......

"Keeping them as a momento" was his defence, i.e. what he made up to try and keep himself out of bother.
  8. Hi all, As I struggle to get to grips with bronze halfpennies, I'd be grateful if someone could check my guesses please. F282? Thanks, Jon

    10kg Gold Coin

It's not a coin in my eyes. Coins are for spending. Pretty it may be but it's just an artistic exercise as far as I'm concerned.

    Halfpenny ID check

I can't tell the difference! I only checked the reverse.

    Halfpenny ID check

    I concur.

    Brilliant, thanks Mike.

    Ebay's BEST Offerings

Who's Gee please Mike? F169 now known to be approximately one in every 6 million as far as I can tell.

    Ebay's BEST Offerings

    Tidy that Mike, nice find.

    Coin cabinet

These things are a bit more important than a box to keep them in though.

    Coin cabinet

I cannot conceive how wealthy I would have to be to not want to spend the money on coins instead.

    Opinions requested.... VIGTORIA

If it was mine then it would be. Definitely.
  18. They're not my favourite, but they're still an effective means to stop the beer falling through one's fingers.
  19. I don't really have a preference. Whichever one it's served in is fine as long as I'm not getting beer in a brandy glass. Or brandy in a beer glass for that matter. I used to have a fair degree of competence at a yard of ale, although I think I'd struggle these days.

    Gadoury auction 16th April

The starting bid of €40 for lot 212, Guernsey 1874 8 doubles, seems a tad optimistic.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I can't get my head round people spending £300+ based on picture of just one side.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I used to feel sorry for them but not any more. So many of them are in the TSFE (Too Stupid For Ebay) box.

    BBC articles

I guess they could infer that he was going equipped for theft as he had no intention of properly reporting his finds. Not sure that goes as far as proof of an offence though.

    Steep slabbing premiums

Sells some good stuff does Mason. I always have a second look at anything with a bubble wrap background.

New to collecting - my story so far

Yes, exactly that. There's no such thing as "EF for age", for example.
