Yes, his bullshit rating is phenomenal - and the coin a snip at only a three figure sum.

His numismatic reputation is long established, as he has been discussed on US forums quite a few times.

I Googled him. Wow, you're not kidding.

    The man behind the legend.

    'Man'?

I'm not sure he's started shaving yet. 😁

Update: I retract. His ebay photo must be more recent as it shows him sporting face fluff.

    Yes, caveat emptor.

Nothing random going on here, and the intention is clear, the fakes have been bought with the intention of selling on at a profit to people who shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised.

She didn't take long. Relisted with starting price of 10k. "This coin was cancelled at 370 due to the private offers and the amount of good feedback. people saying it could worth alot .. I had a lot of them. So now it's simply going on for the price of a car then a girl will be happy"

"but I really can't say if it's genuine i can only tell you what mum told me so it's fifty fifty chance"

Fifty fifty chance? Really? That would suggest there's a 50% chance it's kosher.

So it's a car now? You may remember, when first brought to our attention, she wanted a daft amount (a million, wasn't it?) for a pound coin featuring a minor production error, because she wanted to buy a fish and chip shop.

    Must've been one swanky chippy…...

Ha ha, yes. Syntax word jazz. Click your fingers hep cats.

All these rare Indian silver coins, Gothic crowns, 1933 pennies etc. 'Mum' undoubtedly experienced more than her fair share of prods from the lucky stick didn't she.

Won't be that as it's up for a quid and free postage. The £2 with the four legged tripod would represent a loss. After fees it has to be a 10p or smaller, unless the blunder is to list something at a loss?

    Read again.

She's asking a pound a pop simply to divulge what the rarity is. No actual coins for sale.

Last time she had one (Just last year wasn't it? What are the odds??? Er, none whatsoever.), didn't it come to her in a Whitman folder of pennies she'd bought at a jumble in the same church? So that's twice she's suggested she may have their valuable penny but still happy to offer it for sale on Ebay. Oh, and I see it appears she's now out of rare Indian silver coins. Plod should knock and have a word.

How about a broken E (and X) punch, with the bottom bar added later for the E of ET but not this one? To my mind it looks as if the bottom bar of that one has been added. I'm struggling with die damage as that would show as raised on the coin if a lump fell off, whereas the field is flat where the bottom arm would be, but then there's no sign of the bottom arm, which would be a remarkable coincidence if the die was filled.

    Yup. Works for me.

Could be die damage - if you cast your gaze onwards to the bottom left of the X you will see that it's missing its serif.

Yes Chris, what I thought too.

Look at the foot of the 'F' in RFX. To the left tapered while to the right cut off short at sharp right angles. Also, the middle and upper horizontal bars match those of the E punch used elsewhere in the legends. Further, the RFX 'F' doesn't match the F in FRA.

Still, nice find all the same.
