  1.

    Update:

I've just now noticed their other offerings. Pricing is mental, yet I see they have 1423 sales and 100% customer satisfaction feedback.

Why do Yanks pay these prices for tat?

Just before and after Uni I spent a few years in the Pinewood sound department. On The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, there was a busy (and expensive) street scene shot on a permanent set at Shepperton. Dozens of vintage vehicles were used, many with age appropriate signage. One van said Mackie & Son Bagpipe Makes. I pointed out that it should be Makers and received the reasonable answer that if the audience noticed that, then they weren't much interested in the picture anyway.

We have both the 1969 Maggie Smith film and the 1978 TV series with Geraldine McEwan. If Pinewood I should think you're referring to the original film?

I've skimmed through this morning but haven't been able to spot the van in any of the street scenes. Do you know where and when it appears? If you do, I'll grab a shot and put it up on here.

  3. There's a new big budget costume drama series called 'Harlots', about prostitution in 18th century London, beginning next week on BBC 2. During the trailer we see coins being thrown into a coffer already filled with money. Here's a screen grab.

    18th century?

And further down the page an equally enticing embarrassment of riches offered by the same seller.

I'm kicking myself for missing the end time on this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTREMELY-RARE-Minting-Error-1-SHILLING-SILVER-COIN-1926-/254606269370?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l44720.c10&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true

The same seller does though have two other treasures for my consideration, so all is not lost. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/daa2323/m.html?item=254606269370&nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

  5. No, definitely Gouby X. Look at the number of likes when I first shared it here plus, just in case you're still in doubt, here's an excerpt from a email taken from a recent conversation I had with Michael G himself.

I wish I had your luck or skill in acquiring some of these great coins.
Yes you are the possessor of a 1911 “Hollow Neck” penny – a VERY difficult coin to find !
That was one of my earlier discoveries that I have been pleased to share with the collecting community.
