More neatly done though than the 1967 penny. -

That was my immediate thought too. The dark circle showing where the reverse of one coin has been sunk into the body of a second appears very obvious. The cut even clips through some of the beads. -

Russians? We were in Liverpool last night for the Russian State Ballet's production of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. Fabulous, with Expressionism and Dada influences in evidence throughout, so I came away a very happy bunny (man) indeed.

Any idea what this may be?

Call for submissions - Major Die Breaks/Cuds
Michael-Roo replied to Jason Renaud's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Cuds-a-plenty on this one. -
Has anyone here seen one of these? We were at a friend's house the other day and, knowing I'm into coins, he showed me this blue purse containing at full set of four 1901 maundy coins. It belonged to an aunt but no one knows how she came to own it/them. I've not seen a purse like this before but do know the coins would have originally been distributed in little drawstring bags.

Any thoughts regarding what appears to be a letter A in the reverse field here?
-
Thanks Stu. Yes, that certainly would be a possibility.
-
A full set. Apologies for sloppy typing.

Here you are Mike. The difference in colour is due to light conditions. There's no difference 'in hand'. £175 delivered? A cast iron bargain.
-
No, but will take one when I have time.
-
Lovely for detail but clearly polished within an inch of its life. I bought this one on eBay a couple of years ago for £175 inc P&P. They're out there if you're willing to wait.
