I don't think it is a repro.
No, it's the one that sold in Bernie's sale. The seller must be some sort of moron.

Get in quickly before the seller realises his penny is rarer than he thinks !

Thanks Terry
Maybe weak sea rather than missing, but I've not seen it on 1930 coins.(Can you "not see" what isn't there ??)

And I've sent him a blank version of the Word document that I use.

There was talk on here a few years back about an official re-write of Freeman (maybe either by Michael himself, or under his auspices?)
Chris Perkins had thought that it might be a future option. Michael Freeman had approved the release of the paperback version but had opted out of any future involvement himself.

Is there a .pdf of the Bernard Workman Collection auction available by any chance?
Steve Hill of Sovereign rarities sent me a nice 4 page Word document containing pictures of most of the coins as a pre-auction publicity release. If you let me have your email address, I'll mail it to you.

Yes, further examination of coins reveals that, apart from a few (rare ?) 1889 F127 pennies with missing serifs, F127s plus 1890, 1891 and some 1892 pennies were all struck with obverse R* and then reverted partway through 1892 to obverse R which was then used until 1895 when the veiled head obverse was introduced.

An exciting Ebay listing for penny collectors seeking the 1863 with die numbers - the first example with minus 1 (-1) under the date.

Sorry to resurrect this old topic, but I decided to add the 1905 small zero penny to my rarest penny site (I'm not even sure that it's scarce/rare) so I searched back in the Forum archives for Terry's postings on the subject.
I can't remember whether I forwarded the scans of the Edward VII penny variants from Coin Monthly May 1977 that Pete kindly sent me 8 years ago !
If anyone would like a copy, please let me know.

Last one from 1892 looks like slight doubling of the linear circle
Just a nasty gouge, I think. But more interesting is the smaller 8 between the 8 and 9 !

I messaged him to say that it's not an F8 mule and his reply was - "Are you blind ?"
