    1679 Crown - Is this 3rd or 4th bust?

Good choice of series! Charles II is a fascinating period in history. Type III has short hair ties and Type IV has longer ties. Type IV: This is explained in the ESC (English silver coinage since 1649) Yours is a good looking example too. I would grade it as a bold fine (but I am not experienced with this series)

1990 Gold Crown - Queen Mother Birthday

The Royal Mint (thankfully) didn't gold plate coins in those days. The gold and silver versions was issued in capsules in fitted cases. Nice to get a coin that has been kept for you for over 30 years!

    Coins for 70th Jubilee

True, but not nearly as nice as the 1834 halfcrown design though. The Alexander Graham Bell two pound looks quite good.
  4. I think it would be very difficult finding an original empty 1887 RM case. Perhaps a contemporary 1887 case is a more realistic target?
  5. I think this is it. http://www.ginbai.com/1887.html
  6. I agree. If it was intended as a protest, then two marks making a cross over the face would seem more likely.
  7. DNW described this as the original case for the 1887 proof set. https://www.dnw.co.uk/auction-archive/lot-archive/lot.php?lot_uid=388253 I imagine the case for the silver set would be similar.
  8. I couldn't resist posting photos on one more church I visited when in holiday in Rome. It's the church of the Jesuits. I was walking back to the hotel in the dark and decided to drop in for a quick look. Was taken back by the beauty, splendour and size of the interior.
  9. This is Gaudi's cathedral in Barcelona.
  10. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin has a most unique interior. You feel like sitting inside a glass bottle.
  11. The art inside churches and cathedrals is often breathtakingly stunning. Here are some "modern" interiors for comparison.

    2022 50p coin

The 2022 50p coin as reported in the Express. I quite like the simplicity of the design at first sight.

    NGC grading OMFG!!!

The answer is not a very comforting ... "If Guarantor determines, in its sole reasonable opinion, that Owner is entitled to a remedy under this Guarantee, Guarantor will offer a remedy as set forth below. Guarantor is committed in all cases to proposing a fair and reasonable remedy. If Owner does not accept such remedy, the Coin will be removed from the NGC holder and returned to Owner along with a payment of the grading fees originally paid to grade the Coin and any reasonable shipping expenses incurred in returning the Coin for correction. In no event will (i) a Coin that has been determined to be not genuine be returned in an NGC holder; (ii) a Coin that has been determined to be overgraded or incorrectly described be returned encapsulated with an incorrect NGC label; or (iii) an “Authentic Hand-Signed” label be returned with an autograph that has been found to be not genuine."

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Well, the £8000 bidder even left a nonsensical feedback.
  15. The trays must be plastic.
  16. The price is economical but I am not a fan of the wood used or the finish to be honest. If you click on the link and look at the top photo, I don't like the look of the top corner on the left side of the cabinet.
  17. The website is fine now I think. It was out of action last evening for me.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255221659808?ViewItem=&item=255221659808 The BIN price is now £3k. If the "1933" "penny" is still free, what is the money actually paying for?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I am losing my touch too: "1933" object will at some point be relisted: correct Shocking asking price of between £50K to £100k: wrong. It's for "free" this time Attract more than 50 "bids": wrong. Just 38 "bids" Bidders tend to have feedbacks of 1, 0, 179, 705, or private: correct. But bidder 705 (which by total coincidence is the feedback score of MB) wasn't used this time Then it will be relisted again with some excuse about the "bidder" wouldn't pay up: let's wait and see

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

"We ain't coin experts and I didn't even know about the penny we listed them in good faith..." "there is a book of old george v.. Elizabeth ii edward vi.. edward vii penny's it has no cover just the plastic inner holders and the coins there is 12 coins per page and 8 pages in total I can see a 1818kn [Sic] a 1930 a 1919h a 1912h and some 1921 key date pennies and others the book has duplicate dates but also some key date coins I think there is around 4 or 5.. key date 1921 pennies the listing also has some silver coins" She didn't know about the 1933 penny but knew about the KN and H pennies and key dates?!
  21. It would be nice if restoring and repairing of cabinets can be a bigger industry. Vintage cabinet can last a long time and it's sensible to restore them for the sake of the environment and cost.

Gothic crowns if you are referring to MB

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I am not referring to any incident in particular. Bit it is difficult to protect people from scams partly due to their own greed. For example, you sometimes see scammers using the ancient three-card to fleece money from people in London. The gold ring scam in Paris: https://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-gold-ring-scam.htm I remember somebody claiming to be selling "gold" chains real cheap on a London pavement because they were "stolen". Some scammers also play on people's sympathy to part with money. (Please feel sorry for my young child, or elderly and ill relative etc) Education can help people avoid losing big money in scams to an extent. But greed can convince some people to believe in the most ridiculous stories (or so the scammers would hope). An infamous seller once claimed that her special banknotes arrived by "airmail". She woke up one morning and find them attached to a balloon trapped in a tree and they are worth thousands. People who believe a story like that can't be saved.
