I think thats about the 3rd time thats been listed! My favourite bit is "This is a chance that comes up once every lifetime"!

Now here's a chance that must only come up once in every hundred lifetimes.... A roll of 2p coins I bought back in 1973 that seemed to have leaked!
If they have a butt-ugly rainbow tone that works out at them being worth 37 grand!

1967 pennies are worthless.
I use the ones I get as paperweights, or to stack up or to pelt people I dislike.
In most not-that-serious collections there are usually plenty of these... I found 70 in the last lot I bought.
Worth of the coin does not depend on the age - it depends on rarity and condition.
If you have a moderately worn 1910 penny it's probably worth a pound or two but with almost perfect detail and lustre from the mint you could fetch £50 for it.
However if you found even a quite badly worn 1933 penny I'd give you a tenner for it

So? I've got a Bank of England nine bob note, an Arthur Daley £5 note, Fawlty Towers £10 note, and a Princess of Wales £50 note. True!

I bought 10 packs of £10 tissue in a pound shop.
Unfortunately these notes were spent various times when I had a cold and ran out of Kleenex...

I seem to remember a shopping bag filled with predecimal currency never touched since 1969 contained shillings back to around 1940, most common shilling being 1947 and 8 when they turned into cupro-nickel.
Most of the coins were from the 50s.
Not many preceded 1930.

Thank you for the info, sorry it takes month for building this, why in silverlight it gives more effects, silverlight is a windows application so there is no virus insite, windows go on to develop silverlight and hopefull this is the future for the most sites.
Yes, but with using Silverlight which is used in a vast minority of websites, while being a pioneer it is not 100% compatible with everything.
You've got to ask yourself if it's worth the extra effects for a site that some people can't even look at.
Silverlight is not a virus but if you're desperate to view the site you can download it from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
The site is interesting but has nawt to do with British coins as Europe is only listed as having 2 countries or 5 nations.

I hate censoring things, but can we keep this under our hats for the moment? If it comes out as 100% true and proven, then I will flick the switch and make visible all the posts that I have just rendered invisible!

Yes, it was becoming a bit of a lynch mob.
I don't see it being a lynch mob Sion, as i keep saying, if you had purchased a coin from said ebay seller and paid way over the odds i think attitudes would have changed. So i'll say no more on the forum about it
The forum had been notified and eBay had been notified so there was not much more we could have done.

Looks like an F to me.
Certainly not an £800 coin.
Was the £800 coin in an outstanding grade? Was it a rare variety or mintmark?
Grade and Rarity are the things that usually affect the price you can sell a coin for.
My Krause had $200 for UNC, possibly low for this mintage
Given the buouyency of the Russian antiquities market, $800 might be possible for one in TOP grade, but even allowing for US grading I wouldn't rate his coin as better than VF

How much the buyer wants the coin can also be a factor.
If it doesn't spring up in auctions much and they need it to complete a collection or some similar scenario they would be prepared to pay top dollar for it... but $800 seems a bit much.

The free PCGS Photo Grading app helps with my grading of US coins as it covers the lot and gives examples.
I don't really collect US coins but for someone who does it could be handy.

A picture speaks a thousand words
A high resolution scan could also be useful if you have a flatbed. (You can play with the settings to get a higher dpi for a zoomable picture)

Oh, and that 50c with 'eye appeal' that Huss posted? A particularly ugly piece of kitsch to my eyes I'm afraid. Which perhaps highlights the subjectivity of the 'appeal' of such things as coins and the foolishness of taking it all too seriously and trying to talk in absolutes. Grading isn't that precise unless you use a machine to assess exactly how much wear a coin has sustained (and that assumes you have a 100% perfect example to benchmark and we know how difficult it is to find those!) And even if you could say 'this coin has sustained 10.76% wear compared to a perfect specimen' it means very little since the wear could be from the rim, across the whole coin or from the centre of the bust making it either unnoticeable or irrelevant or disastrous in terms of eye appeal.
It does look rather more colourful than it should, a bit like an oil puddle on a wet day.
I presume this is down to the scanner as these things often are with some MS coins.
