Commonest (looped Q) on the left, scarcest (long tailed Q) on the right. There's also a short-tailed Q which is between the two in scarcity i have common one i got the 1936 shilling for ten pence because it was in a cupronickel box and the dealer let me have it for 10p because i found . made me very happy
-
the 1887 is the loop inside the Q or outside

2010 minting figures up
Hello17 replied to scott's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
i like the high jump one (i didn't get it, i saw it though) i will give my 2010 2p to someone else -
Not rare at all, but it's a very popular and very nice set. What's more, it's the only issued proof set for the Elizabeth II second type (i.e. post-1953). Well worth adding to a collection - it would be my Number One of the modern proof sets, with 1971 (first decimal set) and 1972 (proof-only year) my #2 and #3. it is nice my nearest dealler had it for 12 pounds and it was nice so i got it he did low prices for decimal ones too(well definetly chaeper than royal mint

Giving up collecting
Hello17 replied to azda's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That was'nt insultive hello17, the man in question is the sort of type new collectors like you need to avoid, and my few words there were not harsh enough, trust me, never buy from this man on ebay when you're old enough to start paying taxes. i have rarely trusted ebay ... i just wait by staring at my penias -
Don't wind the lad up. From a very early age I was convinced I had an early unrecorded hammered groat (that my father dug up in his allotment). It was of course a jetton. Apologies - I was winding myself up more than anything! The kid's got a lovely varied set of coins there, and I hope that he will become (if he's not already!) as passionate about numismatics as the rest of us! i have more coins but it did help as my collect went dormant at christmas ... this is about my collection: Edward I silver penny (i dont really collect hammered so cannot grade but probably EF) 1674 farthing charlse II (fair) 1797 penny (fine) 1797 twopenny (fine but with a few knocks) 1799 halfpenny (i have 2 , one in Good fine the other in poor) 1806 farthing (nVF) 1854 Penny PT (VF) 1874 penny (Good Fair) 1894 penny (near fine) 1900 farthing (fine) 1903 penny (good fine) 1911 penny (around fine for the lot of pennies until 1920) 1912 penny 1913 threepence (fine) 1913 penny 1917 penny 1919 penny 1920 penny 1927 penny (fine) 1931 Threepence(VF) 1932 sixpence (EF) 1934 penny (VF) 1936 threepence (VF) 1942 farthing 1945 penny (fine) 1950 shilling(ef) 1957 shilling (ef) 1957 half crown (ef) 1958 halfcrown (ef) 1963 shilling (ef) thats all i remember (i have a few florins and a couple more sixpences and shillings) ill post the others when i get home. summer holidays for me... so more coin time and another big boost will come
