azda replied to thedigger's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Not my personal choice to have coins slabbed in the first place, i'd rather feel the metal other than the plastic, this is the way i bought them, and i didn't pay to much so not a hughe loss, i have been thinking of selling them. -

2 simple questions Coin related of course
azda posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I was watching a coin for several months that a dealer had on his website, being considerably new to collecting i had purchased the 2009 edition of spink, the coin in question was a 1817 halfcrown S/I in pense, in spink it stated extremely rare and no corresponding value to it. I purchased this years Spink book only to find that the coin in question now has a valve for the grades. How can a coin which is quoted as being extremely rare now become just another coin from 1 year to the next? Have they suddenly found several thousand lol? My next question is about the Spink book itself, is this book the bible of the coin world, if not then what would you recommend? -
I'm thinking spink 2492 groat, looks very much like it. In the book it states for a Fine 135 pounds, but thats spink

Elizabeth I?, i could be wrong though, as for grade and value i'd leave that to the experts of the forum

2 simple questions Coin related of course

Just out of curiosity, are dealers willing to barter with a customer, if so what sort of margin could one expect, the best i've managed so far is around 30 euros, but i suppose anything off the price is good to. Some of the higher grades crowns and halfcrowns i'd like to buy, but we're talking 400 euros for a crown George III -
Jst looked on Amazon and it said Tuesday the 12th Jan, but is the ebook avaliable now or is that the same date?

Thank you to everyone else who did reply without criticism of me being a new member, i think i shall try and buy the coin, but obviously at a lower price than he's asking, maybe start at 300€ and see what he says lol -

400 for a penny, i suggest you gently massage your prostate, i'm not fishing, i'm a genuine collector, but also a novice, obviously according to you, no one can ask a genuine question without getting hammered. I was asking the question because there is around 50 coins i'd love to buy, but only 1 or 2 i could afford, being unemployed doesn't help the average collector, also my apologies for joining so late, i will in future remember to join when am told to so as not to be ridiculed or frowned upon by synics like you. -

Exactly, this is a nice coin, i was asking what people thought of it, does it merit a strong bid from me, or should i leave it, its 400 euros, then it states its an R3, general question through the picture -

The reason i asked the question, i won't pay what he's asking, i always offer less than what is on offered, i was just curious what others thought, no red rag here, just a sensible collector -

Is that pen marks accross the front of the coin? I'd say a VF+ to EF, i don't have a book for the year, so maybe someone else could answer that for you -

Forgot to mention, the coin has an R3 rating by the guy wanting to sell it to me, he's also a dealer so i assume he knows what he's talking about
