I am seeing lots of 2025 £1 coins, so they are not scarce, and the 2023s are around too. Not seen a 2024 yet at all.
A fellow collector was telling me the 2022 £1 is quite scarce and fetching £5+ on Ebay, but I have had several???
Mrs is sometimes working at charity shop, and she told me she received some new £1, so i agree with Paddy, it's not too scarce.

Hmm, I am trying to locate the upcoming sale and think my search criteria must be off.
They stopped using easylive years already, so there is no upcoming LCA sales you can find in the portal

Hmm, yes rather a mixed bag with them. I haven't gotten much the last couple of years from them as a result. I thought I recalled that you could bid live through another service such as sixbid or biddr, or ?? some other.
Don't laugh, the one that is something like "insulin", LOL, or invaluable or something....
yes, years ago, you can bid through easyliveauction for LCA.

Agree, need to be very careful about description and their grading when going through LCA auction.

Anyone spot the 1844 DFF penny at Noonans today ?
Oh....since i used to be outbidded at Noonans, i didn't pay too much attention to the auction. But i had a brief look that lot before and thought if the 44 penny was cleaned...not noticed the DFF😪

the bubble near SH"I"LLING is another hint of possibly counterfeit. Deliberately doing an imperfect toned coin making it harder to spot a fake coin.

Congratulation Paddy, it's a very very good find, I wish I can find the same in auction or elsewhere at a fair price too. By comparing your pictures with those in link provided and also discussion in another forum and taking into account toning and minor rim nick, I think it's likely a geniue one.

Hi - I'm new to this group.
I bought the 7 silver 1887 jubilee head coins some years ago - Over time these have developed an equal toning.
Four of these are graded EF but the other 3, unfortunately, are only graded as VF.
My question is:
Do I buy 3 EF coins to make them all the same grade or would doing this devalue the set as the toning wont be the same
Thanks in advance.
I would say go also cos once it is in your mind about upgrade, you will always think about it until it's upgraded. Take time to search for a similar tone and reasonably priced ones.

On the other hand, for 1887 Sixpence, JEB on Truncation is the one that keeps an eye on.

I don't know if I speak for others, but I would love to see your medals! Like many others here, I pick them up occasionally when there are no affordable coins I need available and I find their designs and history very interesting,

I've been buying far more medals than coins of late, which I suspect are not of much interest to members here. And the coins I have are all Tower shillings of Charles I, so again, outside most people's scope. Don't want to be the cause of people's eyes glazing over! 😄
Similar situation to me also in last 2 years, more medals than coins, but not many purchases were made in view of strong coin and also medal prices.

That is just crazy, isn’t it! What a farce! The coins I’m interested in would be very popular if bidders could browse the images in good time…it really isn’t good enough to put the pictures up in the final hours of the sale.
agree, especially they are going to have more profit through higher hammered price if decent photos are provided. I believe most of the potential buyers will stay away from these no pic lots or just place a much more prudence bids.

yes, it's used to no image forever. Maybe you can try requesting pictures from Spink, and there is a chance they will provide you an image through email.

An additional proof...if you try searching the archive sales in their site and nothing is showed up, then it's not sold.

Will be online soon with Sovereign Rarities if you google it and a collection of rare pennies 👍.
Medal catalogue is online now. Some superb and rare examples, and in overall the estimates are very strong for all medals especially those more common ones.

Hi I would like to start to invest in gold coins, I was thinking of sovereigns or maple leaf but would like some feedback if ok please. ie best place to buy from best gold coins to buy, thanks.
If you are in UK, better to invest in sovereign or britannia or other uk bullion, in view of taxation concern. For the pricing, the lower premium is always a better choice, however if go for private sales or dealer, have to ensure those are not counterfeit ones.

Only that the seller listed the same coin for more money and under a slightly different account!
Apart from whether it's legit, that way to do business is definitely an off to me. No one know what will be happened after payment. By the way, the toning of reverse is a bit odd to me.

I have long admired the very high quality of late Victorian coinage. I agree that the Jubilee Head and also the Old Head coins have such wonderfully reflective fields. Even standard currency sometimes have frosting on designs. The highly reflective surfaces also promote beautiful toning too.
I love Gothic Florin, however those high quality ones are very pricey. In addition, I love to find varieties of Victorian Florin, especially those Jubilee and Old Head.

I think it's often a feature in Victorian silver?
The Jubilee head is more obvious. if compare Gothic Florin with Jubilee ones, the Gothic is usually less reflective or bright in obverse field.

Similar here, i think around £40-50 maybe a fair price for KCIII definitive annual set at this moment.
