That might come in handy, thanks for that info.

3 Crowns.
Charles II 1668
Victoria 1845
Victoria1892
This Is another challenge, I dont recall where I bought these, Its most likely a Boot Fair Circa 1980's 90's I really ought to have a valuation as nothing has been listed on insurance, Its quite possible that Ive had a charmed life of things looking back at some of the ones I've bought....Blindly!?!? I just believed that if I liked them and they felt good... it was good.... I keep putting off things as theres another zip bag of Hammered coins I found 4 weeks ago to go through......this could be a blessing...... or a curse! 😟
The 1668 and 1845 crowns are scarce I would say, and worth a decent amount too.

My website also has pictures.
Oh yes, that is the best numismatic pennies website by far.

Thanks for the advice Paddy, appreciate the quick response.
I’ve picked a few things up from local auctions and did a lot of bulk buys at the start when I needed/wanted the dates etc. Not sure there would be much I could get from going through the boxes now but you never know and will continue to look ☺️. What’s the next step? Have picked up a few from Michael Gouby’s site who was also incredibly gracious with his advice. Lot’s more sites with crazy prices!!!
Example: I have 3 1860s that I can easily identify, and I’m sure I’ve overpaid for, but my 1865 (and many more) looks like I’ve made it myself 😂.
Any thoughts always appreciated.
The Spink 'Coins of England' has colour pictures of lots of the Victorian bronze penny Obverses and Reverses, very useful. The latest one I have is 2022, but they have shown these pictures for many years.

it was in one of those lovely plastic envelopes
can be bloody hard to open, I thought £7 was a good deal, so I coughed up and shoved it in my pocket...a done deal.....
until later on that day.... I took a look at the outer edge.....top & bottom holes drilled
prized out of jewellery ? and you know even though you cant see them....I always know they are there.
please do show some of your horrors and let downs......its good to share... 👍
£7 sounds ok to me, even with the holes.

That Is a good question. The portrait would be very decent, apart from the rubbing. The legend though looks pretty shabby. I can only guess that the grade could be as low as au58, but probably advertised as ms63 or similar.

These George iii crowns are my favourite coins.

If you have a 1983 with new pence, then that would be worth a lot more.
-
If I found a Harry and Megan 50p I would just use it, even if it was worth more. Terrible people.

I have not got, or seen one of these either. It might exist I guess, but who knows?

Yes it was £100K more expensive a few years ago and been for sale since with offers.
Daft starting it so low and just wastes people time IMO 😀
Then when it sells for 30,000,000 yen they will say that it went for way over it's estimate.

Yikes....And what about the prices fetched in the St. James's February sale of proofs (silver) - I am out on purchases in these venues at these prices even though this [was] my forte!
Was that the sale with several florin Proofs in it? Yes they were very high prices realised.

I was looking at ozjohn's example. Silly me, that ebay one is crappie.

That's extremely ugly, esp for a proof. Horrid toning, weak strike, just bad eye appeal.
Wow, you are harsh. Looks pretty decent to me.

thank you
for helping him out The issue seemed to be that the Grading company had limited capacity to work out a tooth from a bead . But once the gospel is set in plastic iti s hard to speak other than their written word... the worst one I had was a beautiful 1837 penny which was slabbed in fact a half penny..... you just can't get the staff....
Merry Christmas all
That is a shocker.

Hi there, I am no expert about these coins, but if that is verdigree, then it is at least partially copper, so probably not gold.

Super scare halfpenny - should have found it on Halloween
Very nice find there, and very little toning by the looks of it.

Let's face it, I would not believe it if a genuine 1933 penny came up for sale on eBay. Just so rare, surely auction would be best?

Another Chinese fake. These are appearing much more frequently. I've emailed him but he's ignored me.
That does not like right at all, luckily.

It is a nice F139 2mm anyway.
