    wtb?
  2. Can't think of a more endearing theme for a coin collection. Not for the savvy Investor.
  3. Mike is probably spot on here, (no pun intended) humidity and acids are the cause. A chap in China made a study of the effects of sweat causing pitting corrosion on brass coins using synthetic sweat. Here's a snippet which might be of interest. "Corrosion behavior of brass coinage was investigated in synthetic sweat solution by electrochemical measurement and surface analysis methods including scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). It is indicated that chloride ions in sweat solution accelerate the anodic active dissolution of brass, which is the main reason for pitting corrosion and dezincification corrosion. Meanwhile, lactic acid and ammonia water also promote the anode reaction. The corrosion products on the surface are mainly composed of basic copper chloride, cuprous oxide, the complex consisting of urea in association with copper, and few lactate ions. The kinetics of pitting corrosion development obeys the following equation of J0=0.3735(t+185.93)−1/2, and the process is controlled by the dissolution of salt deposited on pit surface." So, it would seem that if your coin is dehydrated then, the brake is on for pitting. 'Handle with gloves' and keep them in a very dry environment would seem the way to go here.

Could just be the awful toning but I'd want to see this one on the scales before I bought it, my scales that is😉 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123849889017?ul_noapp=true "t is a superior collectors coin with a superior tone one for the big boys and LADIES and is worth every penny "

They say Oscar Nemon’s design wasn’t exactly flattering but if this uniface example hadn’t Churchill’s name in legend you’d be hard pressed to identify who it is.
  10. Diversification in readiness for a cashless society. They will have some good stock to peddle.
  11. I added one to basket and the RM will add a Peter Rabbit BU 50p free of charge. Don’t all rush at once.

Far from being a penny aficionado, I had to read a thread from 2013 to see that F90 is a narrow date. In that post RCL35 had just picked one up in Chicago and various estimates were bandied around at that time ranging from £2.5k to £10k. Just out of curiosity how many examples are known to exist of this type, roughly speaking?

Interesting clip Numismatics’ nemesis, Numistacker again. What a surprise.
  14. I’ll wager that it is the efforts of the Predecimal contingent, via Ebays worst, that gave them the idea. 😉

Exactly, who’d not spot the laurel leaf pointing toward the ‘A?, it’s always the N on the halfcrown, did these scoundrels not attend school? “On Cromwell’s halfcrown doth the wreath and crown be be’neath the N” every schoolboy knows that. what a damn poor job. Do ebay classify in levels of fakery? i’d call it a fantasy piece, does ebay define what a replica is? I don’t have the inclination to check to be honest. It reminiscent of sorting your garbage.

@azda at least he does show the plain edge, though omitting to mention it in the text. It’s a believable out.
  18. Gentlemen, PROOF? of PROOFLIKE, like?
  19. reminded me of a funny quote from an old 80’s film starring Kathleen Turner, “although we may run out of Panam coffee, we shall never run out of TWA tea”
  20. Colin, Apparently Andre is still alive and kicking and behind the White Greyhound. Did he have something to do with your fougazi?

What is the best coin collecting software

Yes Peckris, I downloaded the Multicollector however the editor is unavailable. Must admit I didn't pay much attention to the video in the hope someone on Predecimal might have had experience with it. The old adage, "read the instructions" rings true. Thanks for that I'll explore further.
