My latest group of unofficial farthings bought over the last month

Is this a uniface counter or a smoothed of farthing?
will1976 replied to bagerap's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I do have a fourth which has the 'just drop't in' on one side within a wreath border. The other side has the image of Paul Pry with the legend 'hope I don't intrude' above. I'm assuming this is the standard version as I've seen quite a few of these -

This last one I've included as I believe it's by the same maker due to the reverse crown. It has 'TWI' on for Thomas Wells Ingram, the only one of the three to have any markings on. All three are 22mm gilt brass and weigh 4.0 to 4.1gm -

I have some counters with a very similar portrait on will look them out and post pictures -
Everything else he has listed is modern and I'm guessing he didn't know 1) what it is and 2) what its worth (not that I do either). I never expected to win it though and I can see many hours being spent on trying to find out what it is! Another item to add to my collection of 'unusual'

Lol too late now!

Well no nuclear explosion......he's only accepted! I wait with baited breath. Now where's that best offer 1879 sovereign?
-
Well its not been rejected automatically! Fingers crossed
-
Its 32mm so half crown size, I know it will be rejected but I'm going to put a cheeky offer of £50 in and see what happens as I rather like it. that's my limit though!

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what this is? It's intrigued me and if it was a sensible price I'd probably buy it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-sovereign-showing-St-George-slaying-the-dragon-mule-is-a-coin-medal/173185461481?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Does anybody have any idea on what this large medal/coin is
will1976 replied to billy1744's topic in British Hammered
It looks like a coronation 'medal' for Victoria, quite poor condition though I'm afraid -

I've come to this view too, if your happy with the look of a coin (or token in my case) and the price is acceptable for me that's the end of the discussion! I'm sure many will disagree though -
Thank you for the thought Paulus but i already have this type
-
Lol I couldn't see it at first but on closer inspection spotted it....it's all I can see now!

Good Afternoon all, Strictly speaking not a coin but definitely 'non British' I've identified this as a commemorative of the 500th anniversary of the imprisonment of the Knights Templar at Domme, what puzzles me is the Latin 'id occulte fere' which translates as 'almost disguise' on google. Is this translation correct and if so can anyone tell me the relevance of it and of the woman. Also I'd like opinions on whether members think this is an 1807 strike or later restrike. Medalet weighs 10gm and is 28mm in diameter with no marks/signatures possibly in silver

Thanks for that Paddy I will have a look and see what's what
-
Hi Paddy.....there is nothing at all written on the edge. Could you post a link to the site? I'd like to have a look and compare. Yes that definitely fits more with the motif but how it ties in with the 'knights' I don't know
-
Also found basketball and weightlifting, cant help with the wrestling I'm afraid

Afternoon Mr B, just going through my spares and have got shooting and triathlon so far if you still need them

I have in my collection a 1930 trade dollar for use in the far east and my understanding is that this date was minted solely by the Royal Mint in London and doesn't have a mint mark, however my example has a 'B' for the Bombay mint in India. Does anybody know if any examples of this date was minted in Bombay or do I have a forgery, the diameter and weight are correct and it was bought from a reputable dealer. As I only wanted an example for the design I haven't questioned the mint mark before
