Must be then, I'll have to check it out
-
Is it just my laptop/internet connection not loading things properly or have other members noticed that many of the avatars have been replaced with a cross in a little box? It's not a problem really just wondering
-
Bid placed all i have to do now is wait and see!

On, yet another, inspection there are a couple of faint scratches in the field of the obverse and some wear on a few of the high points so realistically it's an EF not AUNC. The price is estimated at £80-£120 which I think is grossly under estimated and I think I've been looking at it with blinkers on because of the estimate as I know there is better out there. Thank you Rob for making me see sense! The token it is, I shall add to the money I don't spend and look for one in a few months time
-
No Rob your not missing anything apart from I'm on a very limited budget!
-
Yes same design just CuNi instead of bronze
-
I quite agree, It's frustrating and I think the only way forward is to go rob a bank That way I'll have all the coins I ever need!!
-
No this is a lion/beaver D&h 1069
-
Usually that's what I'd do but this is a postal/Email auction so it's all or nothing! That's the problem
-
Ok people I still haven't decided so I'm asking the forum! I have the money for just one of the following which would you choose: 1) A Pidcocks 1801 farthing token in choice EF or 2) A 1868 pattern halfpenny in CuNi almost BU Rather different collecting fields I agree but both areas appeal to me. I'm thinking I'll go for the token solely because I feel the halfpenny will go beyond my reach and I'll end up with neither. Any thoughts???
-
I have the opposite problem....two coins I want and only the money for one. Auction is tomorrow and I still haven't decided!
-
I use the Quadrum capsules for my coins which go down to 14mm, they're the same size as the card holders but a lot thicker
-
It's taken a lot of searching for and the only example I've seen. I'm still looking for an example of the standard version as I'm 99% certain the copy I have is different but have nothing to compare it too. The tortoise seems higher of the ground
-
I dont know if this is of interest or if you've already posted an example (i cant see all the pictures in the thread for some reason) but there's a cu-ni example for sale which i hadn't seen before. Remembered the thread and thought I'd add it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-Empire-Exhibition-1924-Cu-Ni-unknown-to-me-usually-copper-27-8mm/263368362490?hash=item3d51fa49fa:g:nqAAAOSwWflaJyds

My latest unofficial farthings, very pleased with the Uxbridge school one, It's been on the wanted list for a very long time! The P & H is an upgrade for obvious reasons. While I'm posting these is there anybody else out there that collects unofficial farthings? I know the site is mainly for coins but it would be nice to hear from your out there
-
The real thing, you can clearly see the micro lettering on the obverse. There's none on the reverse of the trial piece. photos are a little ropey as I don't have my usual camera
-
I have seen one but couldn't get a picture, it was a reasonable copy but in the hand it just felt wrong the guy selling it thought it was genuine. It would fool a few people with just pictures though
-
Hello Toddmeister and welcome While the forum is mainly for pre decimal coins don't forget about tokens, there are a lot out there and are a very interesting area of collecting (well I think so!) While I would echo the cautions about eBay it's worth a trawl through just to see the vast scope of what is available out therein both coins and tokens
-
I did wonder about those but thought its only a couple of clicks to have a look
-
Not sure if this will be suitable but worth a look....... https://www.sovr.co.uk/george-iii-1806-halfpenny-bg01831.html
-
That's pretty old, how long before you hear back from them?
-
Thanks for that, always good to learn.
-
A nice half penny. Could you tell me what 'hack' gold is? Its not a term I've heard of before
-
I've bought a couple of tokens off her in the past with no problems, as Rob says I think she's just assumed it's correct as she's not a coin dealer
-
