    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Haha so true! I agree that with every find, it always makes me think of it's history and the people that would have held it, otherwise I would have given up metal detecting by now. I'm glad to be a part of this supportive forum and will share any more interesting finds with you all. I have many modern coins but I wouldn't want to clog the forums with those as they are mostly pre decimal common finds. Colin, yes shotgun caps are my biggest nuisance (

    Need help identifying coin please

Thanks Found this on my first time out using factory settings on my XP Deus. I had no experience in detecting or knowledge with coins and couldn't believe they made coins so small. As far as I know this coin again isn't worth much but I really love this coin non the less. I hear of people finding ancient coins even gold and silver coins all the time when out detecting so hopefully it will happen to me one day

    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Thanks for your thoughts on this. Shame it isn't worth anything but it's only my 8th time out detecting so I guess that's being hopeful that I find something valuable just yet haha.

    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Well it seems to weigh the same as a pound coin + 50p pence together. Found it 5" buried. You guys know more than me about these things, it does bend ever so slightly so I guess it is lead. Just wish I knew what the E and R could have meant back then, assuming it is old.
  5. Hello I found this coins in the woods and really need help working out what it is, unfortunately it doesn't have many details, just the E and upside down R with a dot in between. On the other side is a cris-crossed pattern. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thank you.

    Need help identifying coin please

Well I found it in the woods and from my short experience I have seen that from fields coins can be very corroded but in woodlands not so much.
