IDENTIFYING AN ENTIRE ENGLISH CIVIL WAR HOARD ...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

A rather cheeky request, however would anyone be interested in volunteering a few hours of their own time to help me identify and research an entire English Civil war Hoard i have bought. With almost 100 odd coins i want to identify which type shillings they are by using Sharp references, etc.

Happy to cover the individuals travel fees to London (amusing they are UK based) and can pay you in Coffee (haha)

Location and date to be confirmed ...

Many thanks

I can see Tomgoodheart drooling AT this prospect, he'd be The man for The shillings, would an alternative be to photograph coins and email those who would/could help?

Well, I think I know a very local person to you who would be able to state which 'Sharp' ref for each coin is, plus if you really want to get to the point every subtle little 'nitty gritty' micro detail too!!!.....I'm chomping at the bit!!

Ooh! Competition! Perhaps a threesome?!

I'll bring the Sharp BNJ, M&H supplies the coffees and cw can do the Osborne bit with all the different harps, privy mark variations and such!

We finally started to photograph the Hoard today. Here is an example of one of the Cahrles I Shillings. Identified by two fellow members on here as Group E Sharp e2/2 mm Crown Shilling

Is the hoard definitely being sold as one or is there a chance of it being broken up?
