Last week i found a large number of coins from various dates between 1862 and 1960s along with stamps from the 1940s. The coins found are 1962 and 1963 pennies with Queen Elizabeth II on the head. One 1862 shilling and one 1884 shilling. A large number of shillings and Florins with George Vi on top with various dates and 250 farthings from 1930-40s which however have some verdigris on them. Do you think that these coins can be sold if so how much would i expect in total?

Put the two Victoria shillings on eBay, Rohan, and you'll get a few quid for them. I do mean a FEW quid, not a lot of quids.

The rest should be scrapped I'm afraid.

Any George VI silver that's dated before 1947 contains 50% REAL silver. They're worth many times face value, and Chris whose forum this is, would probably offer to buy them off you.

Thanks , but if the pennies and florins are in really excellent condition should they still be scrapped?

The only coins worth anything are the pre 1947 silver coins and the 19C shillings. The rest are scrap value only

Say you get 20x face for pre 47 silver a florin is worth £2 a sixpence 50p.I would suggest you sell the pair of 19C shillings as an item and the rest of the pre 47 silver as an item with face value noted.

Good luck
