I got the same reply as Jerry. Here is my follow up

New message to: lifeasas-64

It's our business if fellow collectors get ripped off because a coin is misrepresented as something it's not. I've reported to e bay.

New message from: lifeasas-64 (54Blue Star)

iv had everything evaluated and been advised in detail on the value and specs of each item , if your not interested in purchasing it then I do not see the
need to message me , iv seen the 'site' were coin collectors get together and bitch about peoples items and I find it rather pathetic and have reported various members , it would be a good idea just to mind your own business instead of concerning yourself with mine.

many thanks

Your previous message

Hi,

That's not a 169, and anybody who knows what one is, and is after one, will already know the difference.

It's a very common 2 + D 168. A 169 has the base of the "1" in the date numerals centrally situated above a tooth. See Freeman page 55. Your coin doesn't.

Also other indicators may help you to do the honest thing and take the listing down.

If you look at the N in ONE.......The two LEGS ( straight parts ) should both be to a gap between the teeth and NOT both to teeth.

The TRIDENT middle prong (fork looking thing ) should be between two TEETH and NOT just below one.

Hope this helps you to confirm its NOT right.

After my investigation, I have confirmed that this seller breached our policy.

For this reason, I am going to take an action against their account. Although I am unable to share what action we'll take due to privacy reasons, what I can assure you is that it will range from an informational alert, to restriction and even suspension on their account.

Good work all!

Although it's not been withdrawn from sale yet, so presumably the seller is contesting the findings? Don't know how it works?

Maybe they ask the seller to remove it first? Pete may know more.

That fake marlybob1 gothic crown is listed as having been sold at least four times since April 9th, so there must be a reason she has to keep returning with it.

You'll note too it having acquired the toning sometime between then and her next listing in May.

I thought it wouldn't hurt to throw my weight behind Mike's chat with customer services.

Well played Michael. Sending a link to this site was probably the clincher.

This has to be the maddest listing ever...if nothing else the description gave me a good chuckle 😆!!

I wonder what the legal ramifications would be if a dealer/seller sells a item that they know, by being informed by knowledgeable specialists, is not what it purports to be.

Fraud possibly, with damages. More possibly if a member of a numismatic organization.

Probably even more if it can be documented that said seller has a history of mis-attributed items for sale.

Academic musings inasmuch as this could apply to a few sellers....

Talking of coins not being what they purport to be, I see our old friend Lukasz has come up with another rarity - he certainly finds more than his fair share.

What’s so bad about this listing ? A bit overpriced, but Krauwinckel jetons can sell for a few pounds each, and it looks like there is a low grade denarius in there too.

Why would anyone bid on this ? There’s no reason why a real off-metal strike would show any significant wear.

This seller gets “good” prices (£20 +) for low quality fake ancient coins. I’ve seen his listings for obviously fake Roman brothel tokens  going up to around £50.

This was originally £1,999 when I posted, so looks like the decimal point has been corrected now.

Thought it'd be fun to remind everyone on here of this message several of us received last week from the person who listed the ordinary 1909 as an F169 and wanted a thousand squid for it:

New message from: lifeasas-64 (54Blue Star)

iv had everything evaluated and been advised in detail on the value and specs of each item ,

Here are the current listings. Advised then by a raving lunatic, obviously…..
