Trench art?

It would have been better if a couple of 1913 pennies in near EF condition had been used. Not that expensive and far more convincing.

Most likely a Freeman 16 or 26 then. Possible.

This stamping of "votes for women" on pennies has turned into a bit of an industry.

Every now and again some chump stamps "VOTE FOR WOMEN" instead.

Always makes me laugh.

Would this gold sovereign be a fake as the outline of the horse goes through the sword?

Looks extremely dubious. Wouldn't touch it with a 9-carat bargepole.

Given the condition, nobody would pay over melt for it, so surely the best result would be to cut out the eBay middleman and scrap it. Fees on eBay must be more than the discount to spot offered in many places.

The buyer says fair condition, being a bit generous I would say.

I went on a canal boat holiday a few years ago, and someone actually touched me with a bargepole.....

The portrait looks a little cartoony.
