Well to be fair, I've never seen one like that before so it must be rare.

That item description though,  I can't believe it's not been snapped up sooner... especially at a 'just in case' price of £700!

That's not even the most expensive ... look at the seller's other items. Nonsense.  I know it's a drop in the ocean,  but £40 postage?

Think he was hoping for the blind or mentally impaired. Or the blind and mentally impaired.

£40 postage in the context of an £11K purchase is cheap. It isn't the postage that's stupid, rather the item for sale.

If I ship an item valued at over £250 abroad, the PO no longer insure it. It has to go by Parcelforce as a parcel, and the cost of that is about £50 minimum, with some rates as much as £150 or so if the value is higher. People tend to automatically dismiss postage as a trivial amount, but the last few years have seen significant changes in the system. And if on eBay you also have to add on their fee and that of Paypal. Anything under £3ish and you are short changing yourself.

And there is also the matter of a seller with zero feedback offering an item at that money. That's not possible on ebay.uk, new sellers are restricted, financially, as to what they can sell.

Though a bit ridiculous people are forced to take such actions because eBay does nothing ...

I'm sure he's breaking all sorts of Ebay rules for doing the right thing!

Good for him.

The original statement was actually reflecting the presence on the list of sellers of an old favourite, but could be interpreted in the way you did too. Either way it's a depressing sign of the times.

Sorry Rob, I did realise what you meant, just surprised he didn't think it was Richard III.

On the plus side, I would get 5000 nectar points if I bought it, and that's not to be sniffed at!

He is. The listing will be pulled if anyone were to report it. Sad but true.
