CHISTO error on Briot 6D

Recommended Posts

Guest ajj

This Briot 6d c1638 Seaby 2860 has on the reverse the word CHISTO instead of CHRISTO. Not listed in Seaby, is this a known error or of interest?

There are two examples of the normal CHRISTO legend and two reading CHISTO in the Brooker collection. I have also seen a few examples for sale here and there with the CHISTO legend.

Spink doesn't mention the legend variation but on the basis of the above I'm not aware that it's particularly rare.

I'll repost if I find out any different.
