"Slap" tokens

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any familiarity with the (believed Irish) "slap" tokens? I've picked up a handful and was wondering if anyone had any good references, these were countermarked silver coins, from what I can see, most of my host coins are William III coins from the "great recoinage" but I think one of mine is French since XRF shows it as 80% silver

I've read the article that Gary Oddie wrote in the December 2001 edition of the Token Corresponding Society Bulletin, but I was wondering if anyone happened to have any more info on them, they certainly are interesting tokens
